EHS Specialist

We are looking for EHS professional who is initiative-taker, team player, and who is able to proactively take charge, maintain a sense of structure, adapt to changing circumstances, stay committed to their responsibilities and collaborate effectively within the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting EHS Strategy Implementation: Develop and align local EHS plans with operational leadership in line with Easpring’s corporate and regional strategies. Provide proactive feedback to ensure the long-term sustainability of EHS initiatives. Support EHS programs and coach the management, supervisors and employees. Foster and drive a strong safety culture across the organization. Develop and deliver training programs (e.g. PPE usage, emergency procedures, and site-specific hazards) for all employees and contractors and also support a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through education and awareness campaigns.
- Legal Compliance & Authority Liaison: coordinating all external communications related to EHS compliance together with HSE Manager.
- Problem Solving & Policy Development: Analyze complex EHS issues, develop solutions, and implement policy improvements. Leverage innovative thinking and analytical skills to adapt methods and address varying challenges.
- Incident and Close Call Management: Participates and oversee the investigation of incidents, injuries, Close Calls, and hazards. Validate findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively together with line organizations to find and determine root causes. Prepare reports, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Technical Oversight & Reporting: Support/develop, update, and enforce technical H&S programs (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) to ensure full compliance with internal standards and external regulations. Supervise report preparation and recommend improvement actions.
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential health, safety, and environmental risks. Contribute to develop and implement to mitigate identified risks and ensure a safe working environment.
To succeed in the role, you need to have
- • EHS work experience, engineering, chemistry, or related field.
- • 3+ years of EHS/HSE experience.
- • Valid chemical use supervisor license (Kemikaalien käytönvalvojan lupa). Expertise of Environmental handling reporting and issues.
- • Expertise in Finnish legislation, regulations and EU safety directives (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Seveso, ATEX, CE machinery, etc.).
- • Proven ability to work EHS programs independently and in complex environments
- • Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork skills in Finnish and English; able to engage all organizational levels.
- • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety data documentation.

You’ll report to the HSE Manager, and you will be part of the HSE team. This role’s location is in Factory site Keltakallio, Kotka. Due to nature of the project hybrid work opportunities will be limited.

Easpring Finland New Materials Oy is developing a battery materials plant in Kotka, Southeast Finland. The plant will produce cathode active material (CAM), which is needed to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles (EV’s).
